FUNCTIONS OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENT
The Administrative Department is one of the most important departments of the Ministry as its carries out the day to day running and activities in the Ministry. The Department is established and responsible to carry-out two key functions: Personnel Management and General Administrative functions. These two main functions include:
1. Personnel Management function
i. Appointment of Staff, ii. Promotion matters, iii. Leave matters, iv. Training matters, v. Disciplinary matters, vi. Retirement / Pension matters, vii. Industrial Relations (Union)matters, viii. Performance Appraisal, ix. Staff Nominal Roll matters, x. Reward matters, xi. Welfare matters, xii. Control of Personnel and Confidential Registries
2. The General Administration function:
i. Maintenance, ii. Supplies
iii. Transport matters
iv. Co-ordination of the functions of other Departments in the Ministry and Parastatals.
The Administrative Department is answerable to the Hon. Commissioner and the Permanent Secretary for general Administration of the Ministry and for execution of approved Government Policies and Programmes.
The Department ensures the effective supervision of staff at the Head Quarters, in the fields and parastatals. It also serves as channel of communication between the Ministry and other bodies, and coordinates the works of all Departments in the Ministry.
The Administrative Department has the following functional units:
i. Personnel Registry unit, ii. Records unit, iii. General Duties, iv. Store, v. Drivers, vi. Pension unit, vii. Computer unit, viii. Security unit
